A lot to tell...

Hola muchachos! Well...I still like San Francisco. It's very diverse and I like that. I've met some cool people and have had alot of fun so far!

The job situation is a little different, though... First of all, this unit has not had a for real manager in over 3 years. They just keep having interim people come in and quit after a month or two because the place is so disorganized. The "manager" that's there right now is a traveler... Anyway, working in an unorganized unit is starting to wear on my nerves just a tad. Also, this place calls themself a Level III nursery, but they most certainly are not. The usual assignments are 3:1 feeder-growers, so I am usually just baby sitting and feeding babies every night. That's cool every now and then, but usually I'm bored.

Next subject: The state of travel nursing. Well, as we all know, the economy is SUPER shitty. That's affected job markets across the board...including nursing. Hospitals are having to cut back their budgets and travel/contract nurses are expensive, so they're the first things to be cut. Long story short...travel nursing jobs have become few and far between. (As well as permanent staff jobs) I'm afraid it'll only get worse before it gets better. I know of a couple people that are currently unemployed because they haven't been able to find another travel job to go to. And I just can't let that be me. For one thing, I can't afford to be jobless...

For the past several weeks I have been wrestling with a decision to get a permanent job or to continue to try my luck in the travel game. I've been back and forth and around again. Then...early Saturday morning, while I was doing a baby's care, the answer came to me...get a permanent job again.

Sooooooooooooooo..........I got my old job back at VCH!!!! I've missed it. The people, the acuity...just about everything. I'll be starting the week of April 6th, so I'll see you guys soon!! In the meantime, I'm gonna keep living it up in Frisco and try to make the most of my remaining 6-7 weeks...

Dueces..
